Colfax develops MistLock bearing system
With over 1,100 installations worldwide, Colfax’s Lubrication Systems Company (LSC) is the leading manufacturer of centralized oil mist and oil purification systems. While the benefits of oil mist for large high speed rotating equipment are well known, LSC has recently extended the benefits of this technology to bearings located within air cooled heat exchangers.
Per the University of Houston, the average bearing life is 2.5 years. Bearing life breakdown and subsequent replacement leads to production inefficiency, loss and unneeded maintenance costs. The Colfax MistLock™ addresses some of the causes of such as lubricant (grease) breakdown and/or an overload bearing condition caused by either misalignment or thermal expansion of the shaft.
