Cooling Water

Colfax Pumps and Systems in Power Generation Applications

Most power plants use a circulating water system or cooling water as the mechanism by which steam cycle waste heat is transferred from the steam cycle to the ambient environment. Plant configurations can either be once-through circulating water systems where water is taken from a body of water such as a river‚ lake or ocean‚ pumped through the plant condenser‚ and discharged back to the source. Or‚ a re-circulating cooling system where the circulating water serves as an intermediate heat transfer medium from which the waste heat is directly rejected to the atmosphere.

In either system‚ the Allweiler series ALLPRO serves as a high flow propeller pump for cooling water applications. The ALLPRO series has a delivered head of 1.5M (5 feet) and is typically vertically immersed.
