Product Portfolio: Two-Screw Pump

Two- screw pumps, sometimes referred to as twin-screw or twin spindle, were invented by William Quimby in 1894 and are manufactured by the Warren, Houttuin, and Tushaco divisions.

The fundamental concept of the two-screw pump is the use of two intermeshing screws synchronized by timing gears, thereby permitting the screws to convey a liquid without any metal to metal contact. This unique concept allows the pump to handle virtually any Newtonian or non-Newtonian fluid under a wide variety of conditions, including multiple phases (i.e., gas and solids), elevated temperatures and intermittent dry operation.

Two-screw pumps are used to pump the following fluids:

  • Crude Oil
  • Long Chain Polymers
  • Chocolate
  • Sea Water
  • Lubricating Oils
  • Adhesives
  • Explosives
  • Naphtha

With a capacity range of up to 12000 gpm (2750m³/hr) and pressure ranges up to 1500 psi (104 bar) the two-screw pump offers a solution to challenging applications where other positive displacement pumps cannot.
